"Léman-I" is a formal exploration of perception, landscape, and abstraction, rooted in the artist’s direct relationship with the Léman lakeside. Across nine pieces, Nano Ruiz uses gesture, layering, and chromatic restraint to investigate how place can be experienced through emotion as much as sight.
Departing from traditional representation, the series strips down the landscape to elemental impressions — tone, movement, spatial tension. Water, horizon, and reflection are suggested rather than shown, allowing the viewer to complete the image through their own sense of place.
With "Léman-I", Ruiz reimagines landscape painting as an interior act: the lake is not rendered, but remembered. The result is a set of abstract works that oscillate between calm and complexity — a visual register of stillness in motion.
