UYU-NI is a series of nine acrylic paintings on Fabriano paper that explores the emotional and visual resonance of salt and sand deserts. Inspired by the vastness of the Salar de Uyuni and similar arid landscapes, this body of work reflects on themes of silence, immensity, and solitude. Through minimal forms and expansive horizons, the series seeks to capture the stillness of these territories, where sky and earth blur and time feels suspended.
Each composition distills the landscape to its essential elements—hills, shadows, clouds, and distant silhouettes—rendered in a palette of earthy reds, deep blues, pale grays, and luminous whites. The visual language is abstract yet evocative, inviting a contemplative reading of space and memory.
Created in 2025, UYU-NI forms part of an ongoing inquiry into geography as emotion. The series is not a literal depiction of place but a subjective interpretation of how vast, empty environments can hold personal and collective meaning.
