"YANA-NTIN" is a 2025 series by Nano Ruiz composed of nine abstract paintings on Fabriano paper, created in two distinct formats: 50 x 40 cm and 30 x 40 cm. Painted in acrylic, the works evoke a soft but deliberate tension between complementary forces — light and dark, warmth and coolness, density and airiness.
Rooted in the Quechua word yanantin, which expresses the Andean notion of balanced duality, the series resists binary resolution. Instead, it focuses on the subtle terrain where opposites coexist, not by erasing each other, but by enhancing one another. Each piece stands as a chromatic meditation — layered, translucent, and emotionally resonant.
Ruiz’s controlled yet fluid gestures invite viewers into a space of quiet reflection, where form dissolves into feeling. The combination of scale, pigment, and conceptual depth positions "YANA-NTIN" as an inquiry into emotional ambiguity and the harmonies that emerge from tension, not resolution.
